Brenda Evans: Photographer ~ Handcolorist Although Brenda considers her photography/hand coloring art as self taught, she has taken workshops at photography schools, college classes in art, design and illustration. Her clients include greeting card and publishing companies, gardening and flower magazines, art magazines and periodicals. Brenda has had three one woman shows, many invitationals, with her art in galleries in the North, Southwest and Los Angeles. Always fascinated with light, after college she traveled extensively throughout Europe, Mexico, Canada and the US, never without her camera. At that time she took B&W photographs only. Finding subjects to photograph during her travels was easy, finding a darkroom to process her film was not. Settling down in the eighties, Brenda was finally able to set up her own darkroom and began connecting into the world of images. After reading an article on how to handpaint photographs, she immediately ordered a set of oils. Although her first love is B&W, she loved the old fashioned effects they created. Since then she has experimented with different alternative processes, using dyes pencils and water colors on her photographs and photograms. A personal friend, who also lives in Sandpoint, Idaho, I am delighted to see her work soon to be added to Hand Color.com. Her floral series is rich in color and depth, her Southwest and Fish series are unique in style. Brenda's car series will take you back to the days of big cars and cruising with your girl. Currently some of her work is already in her gallery at Hand Color, with the others being processed at this time for inclusion to be added this month. You can view her gallery now at: |
