If art is a birthright, then so it can be said of artist Pat Mistretta. With no formal schooling in art (other than a two year night course in graphic arts), her former desire to be a fashion designer she has helped brand her talent with her own unique style.

Professionally, Pat switched switched careers less than five years ago to be a full time artist. For quite some time her work was only shown in galleries through invitational or juried shows. In April, 1999, Pat jumped in both feet into the world of on-line galleries. "I have found the internet to be a wonderful surprise. I have met so many wonderful people, and my work and myself have been to places far and beyond without ever leaving home. It has given me wings and allowed me to reach out to others."

In addition to her own website, Pat's work can also be viewed on Moondance.org, ArtistNation.com, ArtPromote.com and the World Wide Artists Directory. She is also currently licensing her images for calendars, greeting cards and ads.

In an interview with Pat about her art she is quoted as saying, "What inspires my work is feelings. In having made such a major life transition, my work reflects the evolution of me. It also represents women and who they are, as well as who they are capable of becoming. I want to convey positive work that feels good ~ good to the sight, good to the heart, and good to the soul. So many women relate to my work and words as it expresses either the stage they are in now, or where they want to go and how they want to feel. I cannot begin to tell you how many wonderful emails of gratitude I get from those that view my work. It makes me feel good to think someone has related, admired and feels inspired.
Men too admire my paintings and my companion reminds me that my paintings show the softness and sensuality of women. I guess he is right ~ I just never thought about seeing my paintings through his eyes."
